British pop artist Jessie J learned she had breast cancer in March 2025. The news scared the 37-year-old mother who had big plans before cancer showed up. She opened up with Good Morning America about her diagnosis and her connection to Kate Middleton. Jessie J and Kate Middleton Met at the Royal Variety Performance in London on Nov.

19 Jessie J told ABC News Foreign Correspondent Maggie Rulli she and Kate Middleton connected as moms. “She just said, ‘Thank you, I know you’ve gone through a tough time.’ I said, ‘I know you have too.’ I just said, ‘I want to acknowledge that, mum to mum, cancer survivor to cancer survivor.

I see you, and I feel you. Can I give you a hug?’ She said, ‘Of course you can,’ ” Jessie said. Jessie J Apparently Wasn’t Supposed to Hug Kate Middleton During an appearance on This Morning, Jessie J said she was told not to hug Kate Middleton. “I was briefed not to, but, I just saw a mom that has also gone through cancer publicly, and I just wanted to give her a hug,” she explained.

“It was as simple as that. I didn’t see her as the Princess of Wales, I mean obviously I did, and I was respectful…I said to her, ‘Can I give you a hug?’ and she received it.” Fans loved seeing Jessi J and Kate Middleton hug.

“That hug meant just as much to The Princess as it did for Jessie, two strong women, both mothers, both affected by an awful disease comforting each other,” one wrote. “What a beautiful woman. Loved that hug, you can see the PoW ‘felt’ it – her eyes were closed. These are women to look up to and into,” another person agreed.
