Denise Buchanan's husband, however, is now officially in the 'hero' category, after he literally pulled their small dog from the jaws of a mountain lion, just eight steps from their front porch.
Yes, you read that right. Eight steps. Not some remote hiking trail, not a vast, sprawling backyard. Right there, practically on the welcome mat. The mountain lion — clearly not one for subtlety — just sauntered up and grabbed their pup. Because apparently, that's where we are now.
The Doorbell Camera Saw Everything
Luckily for us (and terrifyingly for them), the whole dramatic incident was caught on the family's doorbell camera. Denise's husband, seeing the unthinkable unfold, didn't hesitate. He immediately went full-on protective dad mode, chasing after the wildcat until it finally dropped the dog and decided a quick exit was the better part of valor.
