Each August, UC Berkeley welcomes thousands of new students. The week before classes, they move in, attend convocation, and meet new friends.

This is all part of Golden Bear Orientation. This week-long program helps new students transition to campus life. They join activities that introduce them to Berkeley and the Bay Area. They also learn about campus resources and opportunities.

Fall Convocation Welcomes New Students

Over 9,000 students gathered at Haas Pavilion for Fall Convocation. Chancellor Rich Lyons officially welcomed them to campus. He encouraged students to get involved, take intellectual risks, support each other, and use all their education offers.
