Chick-fil-A is testing a chicken and waffles sandwich in Baltimore and San Antonio, and the internet has already made up its mind: this needs to be everywhere.
The sandwich pairs a spicy or original chicken filet with maple waffles, applewood smoked bacon, honey butter spread, and a side of syrup. Baltimore gets two versions—a breakfast-sized and a full lunch/dinner option—while San Antonio is testing the breakfast version only.
The move fits a broader trend. Fast food chains are leaning into chicken right now. Taco Bell added it to the menu. McDonald's brought back its cult-favorite Snack Wrap. Chick-fil-A, already built on chicken, is experimenting with new formats to see what sticks.

Start Your News DetoxFans aren't interested in patience. Social media lit up with people questioning why this even needs testing. "Why is this even a test? This needs to be nationwide yesterday," one person wrote. Another: "Testing?? Why does THIS need testing? Full send already." The sentiment was consistent enough that you could feel the collective eye-roll at the idea of waiting.
Baltimore residents, in particular, seemed to feel this was their moment. One comment read simply: "Baltimore!!!! It's our time."
There's actually reason for optimism here. Chick-fil-A's track record suggests successful test items typically roll out nationally within a year. The chain doesn't test things it doesn't think will work—these sandwiches exist because someone in their product team believed there was real demand.
Whether that happens depends on what the data shows in these two markets over the coming weeks. But if the social media response is any indicator, Chick-fil-A might have less a question of "should we?" and more a question of "when?"
