Since Robert Irwin and Witney Carson took home the Len Turner Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With the Stars, the Irwins are now the winningest family in the show’s history. Robert’s big sister, Bindi Irwin, won the competition in 2015. That leaves one member of the Irwin family unaccounted for on the dancefloor. Matriarch Terri Irwin has yet to show us her moves on DWTS, and Robert hopes to change that.

The cheeky 22-year-old fan favorite spoke with The Hollywood Reporter fresh off his Season 34 win. He would love to get his mom out on the dance floor, but it sounds like Terri is a tad hesitant. Terri Irwin Doesn’t Think “DWTS” Is Her Kind of Thing View this post on Instagram A post shared by Robert Irwin (@robertirwinphotography) Robert said he’s been on Terri Irwin since he started DWTS.

“Nope, I’m not doing it. That’s not for me.” And I’m like, “Well, I’m gonna wear you down,” so let’s wear her down and get her on there, because I think she would be great,” Robert said.

He added that he and Bindi clearly come by their dancing talents naturally. “I mean, I didn’t know I could dance, Bindi didn’t know that she could dance. We were able to dance and do this show, so that’s got to come from somewhere, right? Those dancing genes, I’m pretty darn sure they didn’t come from my dad.

I mean, he was a very athletic human being, but [had] no rhythm. So, I mean, I guess [we got them from my] mom. It must be. I mean, it’s only fair, right?

She’s got to do it,” he added. DWTS changed Robert’s life, and it could do the same for Terri Irwin. “But now doing this show, a complete deviation from what I usually do, I’ve realized there are so many different avenues to connect with people and to tell stories, and I really think that’s what I’m here to do, you know?

I want to find as many different mediums to do that, whether that’s through TV, movies, or whatever that ends up being. I definitely want to take on bigger and better projects,” he said. We would love to see an Irwin threepeat. This story’s featured image is by Lisa Maree Williams/Getty Images.
