But how popular are the different flavors? It depends on where you live. Sales data from Mommy Poppins shows which cookies are favorites in each state.
Thin Mints Lead the Pack
Thin Mints are slim but very popular. In 2024, they were the most popular cookie, making up 36% of all Girl Scout cookie sales. This means more than one in three boxes sold was a Thin Mint.

Samoas/Caramel deLites Come Second
Samoas or Caramel deLites feature a crispy cookie base with caramel, chocolate, and coconut. They are the second most popular Girl Scout cookie.
These cookies are a favorite in 18 states. These are Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington.
Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties Rank Third
Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties have a creamy peanut butter spread and chocolate on top. They are not as popular as Samoas or Thin Mints.
These cookies are the top choice in six states and Washington, D.C. These include Alabama, Connecticut, Mississippi, Montana, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwiches
Vermont and Wyoming are the only two states that prefer Do-si-dos or Peanut Butter Sandwiches. These oatmeal cookies have a peanut butter filling.
Why the Different Names?
You might know Samoas or Caramel deLites, which can be confusing. Girl Scouts get their cookies from two licensed bakers: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers.
These two bakers have different names and slightly different recipes for their cookies. However, the main idea of the cookie stays the same.
For example, the caramel, coconut, and chocolate cookies are either Samoas or Caramel deLites. Peanut butter and chocolate cookies are Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties. The peanut butter sandwich cookies are Do-si-dos or Peanut Butter Sandwiches.
Other cookies, like Thin Mints and Trefoils, have the same name from both bakeries.
