Samsung has launched its new Odyssey G8 (G80HS) monitor. The company says it is the first gaming monitor with 6K resolution.
High Resolution and Refresh Rates
The 32-inch monitor uses an IPS LCD panel. It offers a 6,144 x 3,456-pixel resolution with a 165 Hz refresh rate. This high pixel density will require a powerful gaming computer to fully use, especially for demanding games. Players might need to use features like DLSS to get high frame rates at 6K.
The G80HS is a dual-mode monitor. It can switch to a 3K resolution, which then allows for a faster 330 Hz refresh rate.

The G80HS offers 99% sRGB coverage and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. These specs are also good for photo and video editing.
Design and Availability
The monitor includes an RGB light on the back. Users can adjust the monitor in four ways to fit their setup.

It's important to note that this is an LCD panel, not OLED. This means it won't have the same deep blacks and high contrast as an OLED screen.
The Samsung G80HS is expected to be available in the US soon for $1,600.
