Meta is rolling out a new creative tool to European users: Vibes, an AI-powered feed where people can generate, remix, and build on short-form videos together. It's part of a broader Meta AI app that brings together image generation, photo editing, and conversation with an AI assistant — all in one place.
Vibes is the centerpiece. Users can explore a feed of AI-generated content, then take someone else's creation and remix it, add to it, or spin it into something new. The idea is less "watch and scroll" and more "watch and collaborate." Since Vibes launched in the US, people have generated ten times more media than before, suggesting there's genuine appetite for this kind of creative play.
To put that in perspective: Meta's AI image generation tools have already produced over 20 billion images across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Now they're extending that capability into a dedicated app experience, starting with Europe.
We're a new kind of news feed.
Regular news is designed to drain you. We're a non-profit built to restore you. Every story we publish is scored for impact, progress, and hope.
Start Your News DetoxBeyond Vibes, the Meta AI app bundles several creative tools. You can chat naturally with the Meta AI assistant to brainstorm ideas or get answers. You can generate images from text descriptions and animate them. You can edit photos using AI — removing objects, adjusting lighting, or transforming the whole scene. The app also functions as a hub for managing AI glasses and importing footage from them, letting you edit and share those captures alongside AI-generated content.
The timing matters. Creative tools have become less niche and more mainstream. TikTok's algorithm-driven feed normalized short-form video creation for millions. Now Meta is betting that AI-powered creation — where the barrier to making something visual is just typing a description — will feel equally natural. Instead of needing camera skills or editing software, you describe what you want to see, and the AI builds it.
What's less clear is how Vibes will differentiate itself. Other platforms already offer AI video generation. The remix and collaboration angle is Meta's angle — the idea that you're not just creating in isolation but building on what others have made. That social layer could matter more than the raw technology.
Meta plans to keep expanding the app's features and capabilities over time, bringing more personalized and social content creation tools to more regions. For now, European users can download the Meta AI app and see what sticks.
