Most parenting journeys involve a few heart-stopping moments, but for Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson Huff, one terrifying dinner-time scare led to a critical health discovery for her baby girl, Kit. And now, she's sharing the story to help other parents navigate similar anxieties.
It all started in April 2026. Sadie was doing the usual — making dinner — when Kit suddenly choked. The kind of choke that sends any parent's adrenaline into overdrive. A frantic rush to the hospital later, doctors delivered a diagnosis: laryngomalacia.

For the uninitiated (which is most of us), Sadie explained on her "Whoa That’s Good" podcast that laryngomalacia basically means a baby's airway or voice box isn't quite the perfect, open circle it should be. Instead, some skin is a bit too floppy, causing it to fold in. This can make breathing sound loud and, frankly, a little alarming. Doctors often advise not to worry too much if the baby is eating well and oxygen levels are good. Which, if you're a parent, is easier said than done.

But when Kit choked a second time, Sadie's gut told her this was more than just a minor concern. She pushed for more answers. Good thing she did, because Kit recently underwent surgery to correct the issue, and it's made a world of difference. The little one is now recovering beautifully.
Sadie shared a heartfelt update from the hospital in early May, singing to Kit and expressing immense gratitude for all the prayers and support.
"God is faithful, He is good, He is an ever-present help in times of trouble, He is a provider and protector," Sadie wrote, adding that her church family showed up in a big way. She acknowledged that it’s tough to simply "return to normal" after such an ordeal, but her faith is carrying them through. A good reminder that sometimes, a parent's instinct is the best diagnostic tool of all.
