Start Your News DetoxInter knew they only needed one point to win the title. This was because second-placed Napoli drew 0-0 with Como the day before. Inter's win gave them an unbeatable 12-point lead.
Inter controlled most of the first half. They played deep in Parma's half, even though clear chances were few.
In the 25th minute, Nicolo Barella's powerful shot hit the underside of the bar. The ball then bounced off Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki's back. The Japan international quickly pushed the ball away from the goal line.
Thuram then scored, making the home fans cheer loudly. He was unmarked and received a pass from Piotr Zielinski. This put Inter ahead.
The second half was similar. Inter stayed in control but couldn't score more goals. Fans in the stadium watched the clock tick down.
Federico Dimarco made a great cross to Denzel Dumfries. But Dumfries couldn't control the ball and shot it high over the bar. This missed chance could have sealed the match earlier.
Mkhitaryan secured the victory with 10 minutes left. He tapped in a low cross from Lautaro Martinez. This started the title celebrations among Inter supporters.
Redemption and Celebration
This win was a comeback for Inter. Last season, they lost the Serie A title on the final day. They also lost 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
"We feel so happy now," said Martinez. "It was not easy to start again after a season where we lost all the competitions we were in right at the end, but I am very happy today with this achievement."
He added that winning was a very important goal. Many people didn't see them as favorites after last season. But they worked very hard.
The mood in Milan was very different from a year ago. Then, fans were sad after losing the league title and the Champions League final.
"I have no words," said Inter fan Fabio. "In spite of everyone who jinxed us from start to finish. Go Inter, always." He called the win "wonderful" and "amazing," saying they deserved everything after last year.
Many fans cried during the celebrations.
"It was more than deserved," said fellow Inter fan Federico. He noted it was a difficult league season, always neck and neck.
The celebrations will continue. Inter will play in the Coppa Italia final on May 13 against Lazio. They hope to win both domestic titles.
