Heidi Klum usually saves her most outlandish transformations for Halloween, which, let's be honest, is a low bar. But this year, she decided to bring that same level of commitment, and a whole lot of latex, to the Met Gala. The result? She became a walking, breathing, slightly unsettling marble sculpture.
While other celebrities were busy interpreting the dress code, “The Garden of Time,” with various degrees of floral enthusiasm, Klum decided to embody an actual piece of art. Specifically, Raffaelle Monti’s “Veiled Vestal” sculpture. Because why wear a dress when you can become a classical antiquity?

Working with special effects guru Mike Marino from @prorenfx, Klum's team basically turned fabric into faux stone. They used latex and spandex to create the illusion of carved marble, complete with drapery that looked impossibly heavy but moved with her. Klum herself noted, “Every fold, every contour, every detail is intentional.” Which, if you think about it, is both impressive and slightly terrifying given the amount of planning involved in looking like you just stepped off a pedestal.
