Masterpieces from the National Gallery are now on display in Croydon, a London suburb. This traveling project aims to bring famous art closer to local communities.
High-quality copies of works by artists like Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, JMW Turner, and Vincent van Gogh are being shown. You can find them in places like Croydon Minster and Queen’s Gardens.
Art Beyond Gallery Walls
The Croydon displays are part of "Art on Your Doorstep." This three-year program shares paintings from the national collection with people outside of the gallery's main London home. The program runs until July 5th. It also includes free exhibitions in other areas like Coulsdon and Purley.

In Essex, the Creative Mile Brentford Art Trail will work with residents. They will find unexpected places for the artworks, such as high streets, community centers, and public parks. Locals will help choose which pieces are shown, making the project truly local.

Hannah Widgington, an exhibitions manager at the National Gallery, noted that the trail offers a rare chance to see these works outside of a gallery. It helps weave art into everyday life. She added that local residents will help pick the artworks and share their own creative responses.
