Didier Deschamps, who captained France to victory in 1998, won the World Cup again in 2018 as a coach.
In 2022, Lionel Messi won the World Cup, the only major title that had eluded him. Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw.
