Movsar Evloev of Russia won a majority decision against Lerone Murphy at UFC Fight Night 270. The fight took place at the O2 Arena in London. Evloev overcame a point deduction for a foul during the match.

This win likely earns Evloev a title shot against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Both fighters were undefeated before this bout. They were competing to see who would face the 37-year-old Australian champion.

A Clash of Styles

The fight showcased a mix of fighting styles. Evloev, known for his wrestling, tried to show off his striking skills. Murphy, on the other hand, displayed excellent defensive work on the ground.

For the first two rounds, Murphy avoided Evloev's grappling. He used strong right hands to keep Evloev away. Evloev also showed new spinning strikes he had added since his last fight in December 2024.

Evloev finally took the fight to the ground early in the third round. However, Murphy quickly stood back up. He then landed a spinning back kick of his own. Evloev finished the round strongly with a big overhand right and a series of strikes.

Point Deduction and Final Round

Evloev's momentum slowed when he landed a second kick to Murphy’s groin in the fourth round. Referee Marc Goddard deducted one point from Evloev for the foul.

Knowing the point deduction could be crucial, Evloev increased his grappling attack in the fifth and final round. He pushed for a finish, but Murphy managed to get back to his feet easily.

Evloev, 32, did not threaten to submit Murphy on the ground. Still, his performance was enough for the win. Two judges scored the fight 48-46 for Evloev. The third judge scored it a 47-47 draw, considering the point deduction.
