N+ is known for making electric bikes by partnering with big brands. They have worked with Ford and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. Now, they've teamed up with Volkswagen for their new Smart Bike.
The goal was to create an ebike with smart safety features, much like Volkswagen cars are known for safety. N+ even calls it the world's first smart ebike.
Smart Features for Safety
The Smart Bike has many features to back up its "smart" claim. A large display on the handlebar shows a live feed from a rear-view camera. This camera activates when the bike's radar detects traffic approaching from behind.

Start Your News DetoxN+ states this is the first ebike with an integrated digital rear-view camera. However, other ebike makers like Greyp, Storck, and Tarran might disagree. The radar system also gives visual alerts for vehicles in blind spots.
The Smart Bike's aluminum alloy frame includes built-in light strips. The Sport version has one in the top tube, while the Cargo version has one on the rear rack. These Smart Lights act as daytime running lights, making the rider more visible to drivers. They glow red when braking and become indicators when turning.

Beyond the Bike: Smart Accessories
N+ also created a Smart Helmet that connects to the ebike via Bluetooth. It has high-visibility LED lights on the back that work with the bike's Smart Lights to signal turns. If the helmet detects a crash using its accelerometer, it can text emergency contacts.

Additionally, N+ developed Smart Glasses with a micro-LED heads-up display. This display shows navigation, blind spot alerts, and ride information directly in the rider's view. This means riders don't have to look away from the road. The displayed content can be hidden by moving the eye towards the top right.

Performance and Pricing
The Smart Bike is powered by a 250W Yamaha mid-drive motor, providing 63 lb ft (85 Nm) of torque. Its quick-release 490-Wh battery offers a range of about 100 miles (162 km). An optional 814-Wh rack-mounted battery can add another 161 miles (269 km).
Other features include a Shimano 9-speed shifter, Tektro dual-piston hydraulic brakes, and 27.5-inch wheels. The medium-sized bike weighs just over 60 lb (27.5 kg). It also comes with a motion-sensitive alarm and Apple Find My tracking.

The Smart Bike is available in three sizes with illuminated VW emblems and a matte white finish. It starts at $4,000, which includes the radar-activated camera system. The Crossover variant, with a cargo rack and rear battery, costs $4,349. The Smart Glasses are $499, and the Smart Helmet is $399. Deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
