A pen is easy to carry and great for writing. But what if it could do more? That's the idea behind the VeroLite, a modular titanium multitool.

The VeroLite comes from TiMate, a company known for similar tools like the BoltLite and CoreLite. It has a cylindrical body with modules that connect magnetically. You can take it apart to use different functions.

A Pen That Does More

One module is for marking. It has a graphite tip that works like a pencil. This tip can write for about 10 miles (16 km) and never needs sharpening.

Flip that module around, and you'll find a tungsten carbide tip. This tip can scratch metal or stone. It can also break car windows in an emergency.

The VeroLite also has a waterproof storage area for three 4-mm bits. Each bit fits into its own magnetic slot. You can take a bit out and put it into a magnetic bit driver. A steel cutting blade, shaped like a bit, is also included.

Another module is a removable, waterproof flashlight. It has three settings: Low (9 lumens), High (150 lumens), and Strobing. A 40-minute charge of its 100-mAh battery provides 12 hours of light on Low or six hours on High.

The VeroLite includes a flashlight that can be removed or used in place

Finally, there's a pry bar module. This is useful for tasks like opening lids or pulling nails.

Improved Design

The VeroLite is slimmer than its older versions, the BoltLite and CoreLite. This makes it easier to handle and 15% lighter, weighing 60 grams (2.1 oz).

It also has a stronger magnetic system. Smaller magnets create less wiggle where the modules connect. The flashlight's adjustment ring has a better texture for grip and torque. Plus, its battery lasts 66% longer.

The VeroLite is available in Sandblasted Titanium or PVD Black finishes

You can get a VeroLite through its Kickstarter campaign for a pledge of US$85. The planned retail price is $119.
