Dr. Péter Ferdinandy, a senior author from Semmelweis University, explained their approach. He said they looked at exercise type, intensity, frequency, and duration. Their goal was to find out which exercises boost bone metabolism most effectively.

The study found that high-intensity sports with repeated bursts of movement and sudden turns showed the best results. Recreational football and handball increased bone formation markers by 45% to 46%. In contrast, walking, step aerobics, and regular gym resistance training had weaker effects.
