Jorge Martin won the French Grand Prix on Sunday. He started seventh on the grid. This was his first MotoGP victory in 588 days.

The win puts him just one point behind his Aprilia teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, in the championship standings. Martin had a tough 2025 season with many crashes and injuries. He passed Bezzecchi with three laps left to win. This was his first victory since winning the 2024 title.

"It's unbelievable," Martin said, feeling emotional. He thanked his family, team, girlfriend, and dog.

Aprilia's Historic Podium

Ai Ogura finished third for Trackhouse, Aprilia's satellite team. This gave Aprilia its first-ever podium sweep. Ogura is the first Japanese rider to be on the podium in 14 years.

Ogura said the race was not easy, but he was happy with his pace.

Ducati had a difficult day. Reigning champion Marc Marquez missed the race due to a fractured foot from Saturday's sprint crash. His teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, crashed while in second place.

Bagnaia started poorly, letting Bezzecchi take the lead. Fabio Quartararo moved into second. Martin did not make up places quickly at first.

The race changed when Bagnaia crashed on lap 16. He was in second place and under pressure. This was his third Sunday retirement this season.

Martin's Comeback

Martin then moved past KTM's Pedro Acosta to second. He then steadily chased down Bezzecchi. Martin was almost three seconds behind at one point. He closed the gap as the sun came out at Le Mans.

Acosta lost his chance for a third podium finish with four laps left. Ogura passed him, securing Aprilia's sweep.

Aprilia boss Massimo Rivola watched nervously as his two factory riders fought. He was not worried about tension between them. He said they are smart fighters who respect each other.

After winning, Martin celebrated by smashing his windscreen. He then mimicked Kylian Mbappe's goal celebration.

Rivola remembered when Martin wanted to leave Aprilia last year. He told Martin he could win with them. Winning in Le Mans was special for him.

In the final moments, Fabio Di Giannantonio passed Acosta for fourth place. He made a late move with two corners left.
