The HSD is designed to haul passengers or cargo while keeping the size of a standard city bike. This design focuses on urban agility rather than just maximum cargo space. The goal is to combine full cargo bike power with small-bike maneuverability.

The latest HSD Gen 3 has been redesigned to carry more without becoming difficult to handle. It features cargo-optimized geometry, a longer wheelbase, a lower center of gravity, and a stronger frame. These changes make the bike more stable when loaded.

Start Your News DetoxThe HSD Gen 3 has a maximum weight capacity of 419 pounds (190 kg). Its Atlas H Rack can hold up to 176 pounds (80 kg). This means the bike can carry a child, an adult passenger, a pet, groceries, or other heavy items.
The bike is also made for multiple users in a household. It fits riders from 4 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 9 inches (150 to 205 cm) and up to 286 pounds (130 kg). Adjusting the stem and seatpost is easy and requires no tools. The frame has a lower step-over height for shorter riders and strengthened parts for taller riders.
Storage is another key feature. The HSD Gen 3 can tilt up onto its rear rack for vertical parking in tight spaces. It also rolls easily into elevators or folds flat to fit into an SUV trunk. This makes it simple to store indoors or transport for weekend trips.
Updated Technology and Accessories
The HSD Gen 3 uses Bosch Gen 5 drive systems, which are lighter, quieter, and more powerful. Some US models are Class 3, offering pedal assist up to 28 mph (45 km/h). The Bosch Smart System adds features like app connectivity, Battery Lock, and a "Report as Stolen" function. It also has UL 2849 electrical-system safety certification.
Shifting has also been improved for daily riding. The HSD S9i Sport uses Bosch eShift with a 3X3 NINE internal gear hub and Gates belt drive. The HSD P10e Sport features TRP E.A.S.I. automatic wireless shifting. These systems make riding easier in stop-and-go traffic, especially when managing kids, cars, and cargo.
Tern offers many accessories for the HSD Gen 3. For child passengers, options include the Clubhouse Mini, Storm Box Mini, Sun Shield Mini, or Rain Shield Mini. Sidekick Footrests make the rear rack more comfortable for older kids or adult passengers. The Hardshell Hauler provides lockable storage upfront. Other accessories are available for pets, groceries, and all-weather riding.
The HSD Gen 3 lineup includes four US models: the HSD P5i at $4,999, HSD P10e Sport at $5,499, HSD P00 at $5,699, and HSD S9i Sport at $7,499. These bikes will be available in Europe and North America soon, with other regions following later this year.
