This celestial creature is officially known as LDN 1295, but its more whimsical moniker is the Giraffe Nebula. It's a dark nebula, which sounds like something out of a sci-fi villain's lair, but really just means it's a giant cloud of dust and gas so dense it blocks the light from the stars behind it. Think of it as the universe's most effective blackout curtain.
