This isn't just another shiny new EV; Audi CEO Gernot Döllner says it's their most efficient electric vehicle ever. It sips power at a rate of just 12.8 kilowatt-hours per 62 miles, which, for the uninitiated, is like an ant running a marathon while everyone else is still tying their shoelaces.
Designed primarily for European roads and built in Ingolstadt, the A2 e-tron is Audi's way of saying, "Electric cars can actually fit into your life, not the other way around." Apparently, the goal was to make electric mobility efficient, appealing, and, crucially, easy.

How does it achieve such a feat? A combination of a slippery, aerodynamic body (with a drag coefficient of just 0.24) and some clever battery tech. You'll have three battery options to choose from, topping out with an 84 kWh behemoth that, when paired with a 170-kW motor, delivers that impressive 401-mile range.
And when it does finally need a drink, the largest battery goes from 10% to 80% charge in a mere 29 minutes. That's just enough time to grab a coffee, question your life choices, and be back on the road before your phone even thinks about dying. The smaller 52-kWh battery is even quicker, hitting 80% in about 14 minutes.
But here's where it gets truly interesting: the A2 e-tron offers bidirectional charging. This means its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology lets you use the car's battery to power external devices. In select European countries, you can even plug it into your home with a compatible DC wall box and use your car to supply electricity to your house. Because apparently that's where we are now. Your car isn't just transportation; it's a backup generator on wheels. Which, if you think about it, is both impressive and slightly terrifying.
This new EV resurrects the A2 nameplate, last seen over 25 years ago. The original was known for its lightweight design and frugality, and this new iteration seems to have taken that ethos and cranked it up to 11. Döllner calls it the most efficient Audi ever built, and with orders opening in Europe on September 10th (starting around $45,000), it seems like Audi is ready to put its most efficient foot forward. Just don't expect your delivery until December 2026. Good things, apparently, come to those who wait.
