BYD is stepping up its game in the electric vehicle (EV) world with a new hypercar. It's a convertible designed for speed enthusiasts.
The Denza Z: A Fast and Stylish Convertible
The Denza Z was recently shown at the Beijing Auto Show. It's a powerful car with over 1,000 horsepower from its three electric motors. This allows it to go from zero to 60 mph in under two seconds, similar to the Rimac Nevera.
This four-seater convertible has a soft-top roof that can retract. It uses carbon fiber for its body and seats to keep the weight down. The car also features the DiSus-M intelligent suspension system. This system adjusts itself to road conditions in less than 10 milliseconds, improving stability during turns. This technology is similar to what's found in the Yangwang U9 supercar.

Start Your News DetoxThe Denza Z will include special features from the U9, like drifting and "tank turning." It will use BYD's Blade battery and support 1,500-kW Flash Charging 2.0. This allows the car to fully recharge in under 10 minutes. Experts expect it to have a driving range of about 372 miles. This is similar to the Denza Z9 GT sedan, which has a 122.4-kWh battery.
Ultra-fast chargers will soon be available in Europe. About 200 to 300 of these chargers are planned for installation in the UK this year.

Design and Future Plans
The Z's design, with its angular front and long headlights, reminds some of the Porsche 718 Boxster. A large scoop on the hood helps increase downforce when driving fast. Hard-top coupe and track versions of the Z are also expected soon.

The Denza Z will likely cost more than the Z9 GT's price of about €115,000 (US$134,500). It will debut in Europe and is currently being tested at the Nürburgring track. Its global launch is set for the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK this July.
