Do you have a road or gravel bike but want to join the ebike trend? The Cyplore kit can turn regular bikes into electric ones. It claims to be one of the lightest systems available.

Former designers from Xiaomi and Samsung created Cyplore. It comes in two models: the Flex and the One.

Cyplore Flex and One Models

The Flex model includes a 250-watt hub motor. You can build this motor into your own road or gravel rear wheel, as long as it meets specific requirements. It works with wheels that have 142 x 12-mm thru axles, 6-bolt, 140/160-mm rotor mounts, and Shimano HG or SRAM XD/XDR freehub compatibility.

The motor connects to a 36V/111-Wh lithium-ion battery that mounts on the bike's down tube. This battery offers about 50 km (31 miles) of range per one-hour USB-C charge. The motor and battery together weigh 1.7 kg (3.75 lb). This makes it one of the lightest ebike kits, though the Swytch Kit is reportedly lighter at 1.5 kg (3.3 lb).

The One model is a complete carbon-rim rear wheel with the same hub motor already built in. It also includes the battery. This model weighs 2.5 kg (5.5 lb).

The Cyplore One model is a complete self-contained wheel

Both models come with a magnetic wireless remote that attaches to the handlebar. This remote lets users switch between four riding modes: two manual and two adaptive.

One battery-charge should be good for approximately 50 km (31 miles)

Performance and Connectivity

The motor provides 23 Nm (16.9 lb ft) of torque. It helps riders reach a top electric-assist speed of 32 km/h (20 mph) in North America or 25 km/h (16 mph) in Europe. When you turn off the electric assist, an internal clutch disengages the motor. This means there's no drag when you pedal without power.

Cyplore also has an app. Both the Flex and the One connect to cycling computers using ANT+. This allows them to display data like speed, cadence, assist level, battery status, mode selection, and ride history.

The Cyplore Flex is available for a pledge of $599 on Kickstarter. The Cyplore One is $779. The planned retail prices are $1,149 and $1,519, respectively.
