Environmental journalism just got a power-up. Mongabay, the nonprofit known for its deep-dive reporting on all things green, just announced two new additions to its board of directors: legal eagle Linda Dakin-Grimm and finance whiz Geo Chen.
Because apparently, when you're tackling some of the planet's biggest stories, you need people who've seen a thing or two.

Dakin-Grimm, fresh off a stellar career as a senior consulting partner at Milbank LLP, spent her days wrangling complex legal cases in U.S. courts. Then, because apparently that wasn't enough, she pivoted to pro bono immigration work. Her legal chops and public interest passion are a perfect fit for Mongabay's mission to spill the beans on environmental issues and help people make informed decisions. She called Mongabay's journalism "vital" for keeping the public clued in, which, if you think about it, is both impressive and slightly terrifying given the scale of the issues.

Start Your News DetoxMeanwhile, Geo Chen rolls in with a background in philanthropy, finance, and impact investing. He’s the principal of the Huang Chen Foundation and his family office, Three Quays Holdings, where he funnels support into conservation, climate, and humanitarian efforts. He's also busy investing in global markets, presumably while simultaneously saving the world. Chen is a firm believer that solid, independent info is the bedrock of good decisions, especially when environmental risks are looming large. He's clearly impressed with Mongabay's knack for growing its audience and impact, and he's ready to help them innovate and expand.
Holt Thrasher, Mongabay’s Board Chair, put it simply: these appointments are going to beef up the board and help Mongabay dig even deeper into its global coverage. Which is good news, because someone's got to keep an eye on things, and preferably with a really good legal and financial team behind them.
